Biography
Graduated in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Bangladesh in 1980. Received PhD in Medical Sciences from Ehime University, Japan in 1993. Full faculty member of Ehime University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan (1996 to 2008). Principal Investigator, Toshiba General Hospital, Tokyo, Japan (2008 to till now).Authored more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviwed international journals.
Research Interest
Worked to elucidate pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases and hepatocellular carcinoma with an emphasis on antigen-presenting dendritic cells. Subsequently developed a new and innovative immune therapy for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Therapeutic vaccines were tested first in HBV transgenic mice anthen in normal volunteers. Finally, phase I/II/III clinical trials were accomplsihed with therapeutic vaccines in patients with chronic hepatitis B. in patients with chronic hepatitis B (PhaseI/II/III clinical trials).
